Peter had fibre broadband at his house and cameras in his barn to keep an eye on his animals. What he needed was a dependable connection between the two.

His existing powerline kit was unreliable. From time to time, he had to reboot the units to get the connection working again. For Peter, losing access to a live camera feed was more than an inconvenience: when an animal needs attention, being able to see what is happening can make a critical difference.

We installed a point-to-point wireless link between the house and barn, bringing his existing broadband connection across to the building where he needed it.

Peter wanted to check on his animals without having to restart equipment to restore the feed. His cameras and fibre broadband were already in place; the work focused on replacing the connection between the buildings.

We fitted a wireless bridge unit at the house and a second unit at the barn. Together, they provide the connection between the two buildings for the barn’s camera network.

The house remains the source of the internet connection. The point-to-point link carries that connection wirelessly to the barn; it does not require a separate broadband subscription for the outbuilding.

The result: a dedicated connection to the barn

The completed installation gives Peter a wireless link from the house to his existing barn cameras. His cameras and fibre broadband stayed in place, with the bridge replacing the powerline kit that had needed repeated reboots.

Keeping the live feed accessible and reducing hands-on troubleshooting were the priorities behind the change. For Peter, that connection supports checking his livestock when being able to see what is happening matters most.
